For more than 200 years, the glorious Myrhorod was a Cossack city and for most of this time - the center of the registered Cossack regiment. Myrhorod Cossacks took part in many uprisings and were distinguished by their fighting ability and bravery. The days of the Cossacks connect Myrhorod with the names of hetman Danylo Apostol, Myrhorod colonel Matvyi Gladky, artist Volodymyr Borovykovsky, poet Vasyl Kapnist, historian Vasyl Lomykovsky, writer Vasyl Narizhnyi.
