The buildings and structures of the railway station were built at the beginning of the 20th century. (1900 - 1902). During the Second World War, they suffered significant destruction. In 1951, according to the project of E. Lymar, the complex was reconstructed. In 1904, a bust of M. V. Gogol (sculptor M. Andreev) was installed in front of the station building, which was also destroyed during the war. The modern monument to M. V. Gogol is installed in almost the same place, near the central entrance to the station, and was opened on April 1, 1952, on the writer's birthday. The monument was made by Kyiv art workshops.
